Sidekicks Martial Arts Academy Belt Rank progression is a holistic system, including academics at school, social behavior, and knowing belt form moves. Sidekicks Martial Arts Academy uses the belt promotion colors white, yellow, green, blue, red and black. Sidekicks belt rank order progression looks like this:
What are Sidekicks belt rank requirements for promotion?
Not all martial arts schools have as strict requirements as Sidekicks belt rank promotion. Think about what you want for your child? Good grades? Excellent citizenship at school? That’s what’s required for testing promotion at Sidekicks.
Sidekicks community supports family goals and initiatives. Encouragement and support are provided by Sidekicks instructors. Grandmaster Orange and Sidekicks instructors work with your child as a team. At Sidekicks you know you’ve made the right decision in choosing a martial arts program for your kids. Sidekicks is a community that offers support through a leader who has years of experience working with thousands of kids.
Sidekicks permission to test and testing advancement is based on two criteria.
1. Is the student being a good citizen in class?
2. Are they getting passing grades?
Each Sidekicks student must have their classroom teacher sign off on their testing permission slip. The classroom teacher must verify first, that the student is being a good citizen; and second that they are getting passing grades in class.
Key skills are the foundation of Sidekicks belt rank requirements for grading and promotion. These key skills are:
- BASICS – element of hand and arm motion.
- KICKS – element of foot and leg motion.
- FITNESS – evidence of physical fitness.
- FORMS – individual action.
- ONE STEP – practical use of combat techniques.
- SPARRING – relative free combat action.
- BREAKING – evidence of power.
Do Sidekicks Students have mental goals?
Yes, mental goal development and attainment is a big part of Sidekicks Martial Arts Academy training. From white belt a the way to black belt Sidekicks students work on developing mental goals, as well as physical goals.
Discipline –

In addition to knowing the Sidekicks Taekwondo forms, students need to do well academically. This means, kids taking Taekwondo at Sidekicks Martial Arts Academy need to get their teachers to sign off on their academic progress. In order to test for belt rank promotion at Sidekicks, the kids must be getting good grades in school. If that is not the case, then GMO works together with the child, the parents, and the teacher, to make a game plan for improvement.
Sidekicks students need to be doing well socially at school. Their classroom teachers have to sign off that they are behaving well in school. Grandmaster Orange encourages the Sidekicks students to practice the tenets of Taekwondo every day. Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, and Indomitable Spirit. All of these attributes contribute to a successful student at Sidekicks. A successful Sidekicks student, will be armed with the aptitude for a successful life.
